App Store reaches 15 billion downloads; Google+ don’t want businesses right now

apple vs google plusAnyone that wondered why mobile gaming developers favor Apple so much need only look at the latest figures to come out of the company. It will be particularly interesting for mobile gaming firms to find out that their app store has reached an impressive 15 billion downloads. We know not all mobile gaming companies use the app store. Even those developing web-based apps will have their heads turned by this.

A spokesperson for the company, said, “In just three years, the revolutionary App Store has grown to become the most exciting and successful software marketplace the world has ever seen. Thank you to all of our amazing developers who have filled it with over 425,000 of the coolest apps and to our over 200 million iOS users for surpassing 15bn downloads.”

The news comes after the US District Court of Northern California ruled very same “app store” name could not be used exclusively by the firm. They had sought an injunction against Amazon as they had called their version Appstore but the name was ruled not famous in relation to Apple in particular.

Meanwhile one of their main competitors, Google, is continuing to have teething problems with its newest project. Just days ago the global behemoth announced it was joining the social media space with the launch of Google+. After closing invites earlier on this week they’ve dropped the latest boob by advising companies not to make profiles. Any iGaming companies looking to exploit it for marketing purposes will have to wait for a little while yet then.
