Playtech and Sportech

Playtech and SportechNot wanting to feel left out of any boardroom upheaval, Playtech today announced a change of their Chief Financial Officer. Shuki Barak, who had been in the position for five years will step down on May 25. David Mathewson is the man tasked with stepping into the void after he joined the company as a non-executive director in June 2010. Since then, he has also taken on the role of chairman of the company’s audit and risk committees. After holding the chairman’s job over at Sportech from 2002 to 2006, many are speculating as to whether he might want to change his surname to MatTECHson.

Sportech AGMMeanwhile, Sportech saw their annual general meeting (AGM) take place today after which a statement was made by non-executive chairman Roger Withers.

“Trading for the current financial year has started well and we are pleased to report that the Group is performing in line with the Board’s expectations. The Group is highly cash generative, and continues to focus on debt reduction whilst investing in selective business development opportunities,” he said.

The company reported that they’re continuing to make good progress with the integration of Scientific Games Racing (now “Sportech Racing”) and in addition they made a deal in place with a US-based firm. The Balmoral Racing Club and Maywood Trotting Association will run their newly created Interactive Products and Services division.

In terms of the iGaming side to their business, Withers commented “[Our e-Gaming business] continues to trade in line with our expectations, whilst we also focus on the impending transfer of our customers and products to Playtech gaming software. This will commence next month, and continue through to the final quarter of the year as we transition our various product offerings to a single platform, single wallet approach.”
