Fortuna appoints new GM for Polish division

Fortuna had said that Poland accounted for 21 per cent of total gross winnings in its preliminary results for the 2010 financial year, and the company had made plans to expand into online betting in Poland later this year pending regulatory developments. With Aleš Dobeš resigning as CEO of their Polish division, Jan Štefanek has been appointed as new general manager of Fortuna in Poland.

Prior to his appointment to run the Polish division, Mr. Štefanek worked as director of the sales network and sales director of Fortuna since February 2007 and in July 2007 became a member of the Board of Directors of Fortuna.

Jan Štefanek holds a degree in economics and management from the Business University in Ostrava. Between 2000 and 2002 he worked as project manager with KORAS Trade, where he was responsible for a construction of telecommunication network for the mobile operator Český mobil (currently Vodafone CZ).

In 2003 and 2005 Štefanek was a real estate developer and participated in a number of large real estate development projects in North Moravia. Later, in 2006 and 2007 he worked as manager developer projects with the construction company TCHAS.

It’s a new role for the relatively young Štefanek, but it’s the same calling, make the business profitable.
