Being in the North West of England it’s easy for you to be obsessed with soccer such is the proximity of England two most successful clubs. Their own fans would berate you for doing so but Liverpool’s appointment of Kenny Dalglish smacks of them living in the past and Manchester United fans are probably still in hysterics after Sunday’s win.
Perhaps unsurprisingly sports bookmakers in the area are doing rather well, and none other than the self-proclaimed “Bonus King” Betfred.
Last year saw them become judge, jury, and prosecutor following the David Haye fight, as they explained he didn’t cheat, before renewing their tenancy at Wembley Stadium. This was all as founder Fred Done devised his very first TV advertising campaign. Club this together with them being one of the front-runners for the Tote and it was quite the year for Betfred.
The latest news is that they’re the largest company in the entire North West region according to analysis published last month by LDP Business and the University of Liverpool’s management school. The story, published in the Liverpool Daily Post, will put a smile as wide as the Mersey on the faces of owners Done Brothers.
Betfred will be hoping this is a precursor to them acquiring the Tote by the end of January. The move would almost double their workforce in addition to becoming the owner of 517 more shops and having a presence at 60 racecourses across the UK.
