Festive soccer will see a flurry of bets

festive-soccer-bettingIf the snowy weather plays its own little game with the fixtures on Boxing Day the sports betting industry might have nothing to take bets on at all, but right now the weekend’s fixtures give us a soccer present we’d give up all the other ones for.

If it wasn’t good enough hearing that all round sports betting industry favourite, and BBC Sports Personality of the Year winner, Tony McCoy was to be riding Kauto Star on Boxing Day, it suddenly catches up with you that the infamous festive period of football begins on the same day. It’s the only time of the year that the Football Association can get away with scheduling 4 games in 9 days and no one bats an eyelid.

This also means there’s a lot of bets to be had on games well into the New Year, and William Hill have well and truly come up trumps with a number of bets in this department.

The most intriguing of these involves betting on which team will score the highest amount of goals on Boxing Day, the odds as follows:

4/1 Man Utd
11/2 Liverpool
9/1 Everton
10/1 Bolton
10/1 Tottenham
10/1 Man City
11/1 Wolves
11/1 Blackburn
12/1 Fulham
14/1 West Brom
14/1 Aston Villa
16/1 Newcastle
16/1 Blackpool
18/1 Wigan
20/1 Stoke
22/1 West Ham
40/1 Birmingham
100/1 Sunderland

The two missing from that little lot are Arsenal and Chelsea who take to the field on 27th December and it may even be a game that sees the winner go top. Be sure to watch out for Didier Drogba in this game, and not just to see what marks you will give him gymnastics-wise. He usually enjoys playing at the Emirates more than most, and would be a good bet for at least a goal.
