Maradona to Blackburn. Will he, won’t he?

maradona-to-blackburnAfter being one of the contributing factors towards Calvin Ayre losing out on a whole lot of dolla’ during the World Cup, former-Argentina manager Diego Maradona has been out of a job and not up to a massive amount. He’s already been linked with jobs in England so it’s fair to say that he must have realized that Pele doesn’t come here often. So, when Blackburn this week sacked Sam Allardyce so that he can eventually take the Real Madrid job, there was a void waiting to be filled.

Unfortunately the owners have gone from saying they had discussed giving the mad Argentinian the job, to now categorically denying that they’ve got any interest in giving him a post in the Premier League.

Anuradha Desai moved to quash the speculation in an interview with BBC Five Live.

“I can assure you that Maradona is nowhere near to being considered. He is not in our line of thinking. This is something that because we have offices everywhere somebody spoke about, but it is not true. There is no connection.”

It really a crying shame that they’ve decided this should be the case. Have they not realised that Maradona would really put them and Blackburn on the map…actually we get their point in that regard. Have you ever been to Blackburn?

Although, seeing as the speculation has already gone both ways, there’s nothing to stop it going back the other way again.
