Poker down under! Aleks Brkovic leads APPT Sydney

The Asia Pacific Poker Tour Sydney Grand Final has amassed a field of 289 players (down from 2009’s 396). Thirty-two players will ultimately share the total prize pool of AUS $1.73m, of which the winner will get $459k. Of the 163 survivors heading on to Day 2, the top 10 chip leaders are 80% Australian, with Aleks Brkovic in the number one position. Other notable survivors include Daniel Negreanu, Tony G and Joe Hachem, while notable casualties include Chris Moneymaker, Jeffrey Lisandro and Joe Hachem. Would have been nice if the APPT had announced in advance that they had a one Hachem quota system, but live and learn. Day 2 play gets underway at 12:30 local time.
