Bookies’ favourite gets Newcastle job

alan-pardew-newcastleMike Ashley’s own version of X Factor is now over and amongst those in his legion of Sports Direct stores, he’s found someone new to manager his football club. The one to shine brightest amongst the football managers currently cast out to a career at the sports wear giant was Alan Pardew – and the bookies were with “Pards” at every step of the road to St James’s.

In the latter stages, William Hill had the former West Ham and Charlton boss at as short odds as 1/12, meaning they must have also seen the photos that Pards has of Ashley in compromising positions. Well if that’s not true, would someone please point me in the direction of someone that can tell me why they’ve given him a five-and-a-half year deal? That means, if he lasts that long, he’ll still be in a job in 2016.

It’s one of the weirder appointments of the season, and the way Chris Hughton was disposed of may even have disgusted human rights groups, but kudos to the big pint swilling sportswear magnate if he gets this one right. Would be quite the middle finger to everyone in the media, me included.

As for the photos – you just wait until he fires Pardew in four weeks time!
