Alan Pardew can now be found at odds as short as 1/12 with William Hill, and spokesperson Graham Sharpe yesterday said: “Eighty per cent of today’s bets have been for Pardew to get the job”.
As Pards is up for this job, it’s surely more than appropriate to re-air that footage of Alan’s final appearance on Match of the Day 2 where he compared Michael Essien’s play to the act of rape. The pause after he says it is well worth a look, and can be seen here.
Twitter’s world of Z-list footballers and ex-footballers are spouting all kinds of vitriol about this appointment. Former-Chelsea youth player Leon Knight tweeted: “Alan pardew ….. Oi Ashley do the newcastle united fans a favour and F-OFF !!!!”
Anyone that follows Knight will know this isn’t out of the ordinary, one word of advice to Ashley though. Maybe keep a tight reign on his press conferences when he’s appointed.
