EPT Barcelona down to 24 players; GUKPT Main Event Day 1a in the books

ept-barcelona-day-3-gukpt-main-eventWith Day 3 action done at the European Poker Tour Barcelona, the field is now down to 24 players, 25% of whom are Spanish, and 14% Italian. But the man sitting atop the chip leader board is German Giuseppe Pantaleo with 2.309m. In second place is Alessandro Longobardi with 1.863m, Thor Stang in third with 1.447m and Day 1b leader Luis Rufas fourth with 1.429m.

Among the day’s many casualties were Day 2 chip leader Bryn Kenney (who fell when Thor brought down the hammer on Kenney’s all-in bluff), Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Pascal Lefrancois and, oh yeah, every remaining American except Zachary Korik, who sits in 11th place. Thanksgiving, my ass…

Shifting slightly to the northwest, Day 1a of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour got underway in London. Patrik Selin, who previously cashed at the GUKPT NL Hold’em Freezeout, made a brave run on Thursday but his all-in A-10 ultimately fell to Willie Tann’s three jacks in the final level before play wrapped for the day. While the Main Event’s first day saw just 84 players buy-in, a larger field is expected when Day 1b gets underway Friday at 2pm.
