Every month the time comes when online sports betting companies can measure themselves against bet365 and see if they’ve managed to close the gap on the sports bettors paradise. Unfortunately every month goes by and no one seems to be able to break the stranglehold Ray Winstone and his heavies have on the Oddschecker top ten. This last month was no different.
Bet365 remained at the top with a market share of 16.4%, rising 0.1% on the previous month. Second placed Betfair, however, dropped 0.6% to 12.4% from the previous month, Stan James were the biggest winner though.
Stan maintained his position in third place and increased the lead over Ladbrokes who are now languishing outside the medal positions. Stan now owns a market share of 10.7% after a number of successful promotions.
Dave Watkins, commercial manager at Oddschecker, explains Stan James’ recent resurgence: “Their [Stan James] surging performance was achieved by a strong Ryder Cup offer generating plenty of new acquisitions early in the month; continued focus on racing and football, and strong pricing on rugby union as the season got into full swing.”
Hills experienced the largest drop in market share this month falling 1.1% to 5.7% in October. Surely bet365 will be receiving some kind of trophy at a point in the near future though?
