The Sport and iGaming Conference is coming up on November 10th in London and team CalvinAyre.com is very much looking forward to being a part of it all. Conference organizers iGaming Business have done a great job recruiting speakers across the UK sports igaming industry, all who are experts in the challenges and benefits of sponsorships with sporting events and teams.
One of the speakers for this upcoming event includes Keith McDonnell, Bodog Europe’s Director of Business Development and expert on the Bodog/Fulham relationship. I decided to sit down with Keith to get a better idea of why he has chosen to participate in the Sport and iGaming Conference, what he will be presenting to the audience, and why so many UK iGaming companies are sponsoring sporting events and teams.
Becky: Why did you decide to participate in the 2010 Sport and iGaming Conference?
Keith McD: Everyone that works under the Bodog brand is passionate about the gaming industry and while we all compete hard, we need to share expertise to stay ahead of the game and on top of the increasing number of challenges that affect the industry as a whole.
Becky: Bodog currently has a sponsorship agreement with Fulham. What does this agreement entail and how did it come about?
Keith McD: Bodog is Fulham’s online gaming and betting partner. We are always looking for opportunities and partners that can help us build our brand in this market. While we all like to focus on ROI deals, we understand the need and importance of brand building, especially in an ultra-competitive market like the UK and Europe. Fulham stood out as such an opportunity when considering location, colours, general feeling towards them, how they are run as a business and also the people. Whether its employees or partners, we need to enjoy working with people to ensure we get the best out of them.
Becky: What details about the agreement will you be revealing at the Sport and iGaming Conference?
Keith McD: We’ll be talking about how we took “bodog” and our brand value to football sponsorship as opposed to taking the traditional approach, thats not our style.
Becky: Why do we keep seeing iGaming companies partnering with UK sports teams? What is the value?
Keith McD: The UK has taken the right approach to this industry by having it properly regulated and they are reaping the benefits beyond just the obvious fiscal ones. Also, there are limited marketing opportunities in certain global territories and given the international appeal of the Premier League, and the mass broadcast coverage it gets internationally, its easy to see the attraction.
Becky: Why should industry professionals attend this conference?
Keith McD: I’ll leave that one to the Conference organizers … 😉
