If it wasn’t for a walk in the third inning, Halladay had himself a perfect game. He threw 104 pitches, struck out 8 and was absolutely masterful. For those who bet on the Phillies to go the distance, that’s a bet that damn near starting to look like a lock. If anything, a performance like that can charge up an entire team and most of all an entire pitching staff. To be real, and I know this is ridiculous, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he threw another one this postseason, he’s been lights out for the past month.
It’s becoming a general rule of thumb, don’t bet against Roy Halladay, now you can add, don’t bet against Roy Halladay in the post-season. After the game the Philly fans were going crazy in the stands and when they came to interview the Doc, he was as cool as a fan, still in command. I know it’s early, but it’s looking like a sweep show for the Phillies. Just to add to his historical night, Doc recorded a hit and an RBI which is more offense than entire Reds team was able to muster.
