Upon watching Saturday’s Premier League encounter between Tottenham and Wigan via an illegal Internet stream you might have wondered, like me, whether the away fans had been banned for making some kind of rude gesture during last season’s 1-9 capitulation. You’d have understood if they’d all turned around and dropped the trousers at their side as they let in the ninth, but that wasn’t the case.
