SwannIf elaborate stories were enough to get you off from a police charge many, many murderers would get away with their crimes and be off on-the-run around the world. All this means England cricketer Graeme Swann could well be in trouble as he attends court charged with drink driving.

The excuse? His pet cat Max was stuck underneath the floorboards and good old Swanny was racing to buy screwdrivers to get the poor thing out, whilst swigging from a bottle of dark rum donated by his West Indian team-mates – for ‘medicinal’ purposes.
