British horse racing promoted to Premier League

Horse RacingTraditionalists will hate it, and it remains to be seen whether it comes to fruition, but British horse racing has big plans. Today came the announcement that a ‘Premier League’ of the top few racecourses in the country could be formed and packaged together, in order to land the highest TV revenue possible.

The packages come up for renewal in 2013 so racing has, in essence, around three years to decide what it’s going to do, but one day could we have courses bidding to own certain jockeys, and facing off against each other in a kind of league? It remains to be seen what happens, however, these could be exciting times ahead for horse racing in Britain. Read more.
