It’s a sign of how truly desperate Atlantic City’s situation is that its major stakeholders seem entirely unphased by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s somewhat radical scheme to take the reins of the troubled gambling mecca. Christie calls it a ‘partnership’ which we’re pretty sure is how the Russians described their takeover of Czechoslovakia in ’68, but as they say, a drowning man will grab onto the point of a sword if he thinks it will pull him safely to the Jersey shore.
