In joining Ongame, Betfair will scrap its proprietary software to switch to the Ongame platform. Daniel Svard, the head of Betfair Poker, said the move was, “a conscious effort to place our poker players at the forefront of our product offering.”
Betfair, known for its sponsorship of the World Series of Poker Europe, is recognized as a creative force in Internet poker, and it is a welcome addition to the Ongame Network. Ongame head Martin Lerby said, “Betfair is doing something which is not done in the offline world, and is famous for being an innovative and driven company, and we want partners on the network like that, who are seeing possibilities, exploring new things.”
As with many of the other non-US friendly sites, Betfair has seen its share of the online poker market drop. By joining Ongame, Betfair would likely help the network overtake US-facing Cereus for fifth in overall traffic.
Looking to offer the best opportunities to its online poker players worldwide, Betfair has joined the Ongame network. This is a move that most observers view as a positive step for both parties, as they look to move up in the competitive online poker market.
