As the typhoon known locally as Basyang (internationally as Conson) moves across the main Philippine island of Luzon, it’s left behind huge pools of water, airports and transit lines inoperative and significant power outages across major metropolitan areas.

President Benigno Simeon Aquino III is said to be furious at his country’s weathermen for mistakenly predicting the storm’s path would travel over the Northern area of the island, instead of directly across Manila, which is where the brunt of the storm was felt.
