Oh yeah, life goes on, long after the thrill of living is gone. Such is the bleak worldview currently espoused by UK bookmakers, who seem to have forgotten that betting is a form of entertainment, and as such, should be approached with a spring in one’s step.

Ladbrokes, for example, resemble nothing more these days than a sad and lonely tweed-clad pensioner content to while away his remaining days on a park bench, feeding the pigeons. Then there are those hooligans at Paddy Power, who have sunk so low they can only lift their spirits by kicking cats.
