New Jersey’s state senate has postponed a scheduled vote on whether to permit legalized sports betting. The vote, which was scheduled to take place Thursday, will now be conducted on June 10. So why the delay? Sen. Ray Lesniak claims the issue just got lost in the legislative shuffle as the senate debated more pressing matters, but we can’t help but note that the NFL is to decide on the site of the 2014 Super Bowl next Tuesday, and a ‘yes’ vote on NFL wagering would most likely have doomed any chance of Jersey winning that bet.
