U.S. President Obama has named Tracie Stevens as his choice for new chair of the National Indian Gaming Commission. Stevens, a member of the Tulalip tribe of Washington State, has previously served as senior policy analyst in her tribe’s government affairs office, as well as having business experience from a stint in the tribe’s casino. Her appointment now heads to the Senate for confirmation, but unless Sen. Jon Kyl reverts to his obstructionist ways, it’s not expected to face much in the way of opposition. Read more.
