On the eve of the World Snooker Championships we reported that dark arts were at work in the murky world of multi-coloured ball dispersion. Yesterday, hours before the start of the final, it emerged that John Higgins had been suspended for agreeing to rig matches for €300,000 with some dodgy Russian mafia types. The World No1 denies ever having thrown a frame but he was caught on camera agreeing to do just that and, think about it, he did just lose to a 53-year-old in the last 16. Read more.
