One of the questions I get asked a lot is; “Woy Fulham, for Bodog Europe’s first major sponsorship deal?”. ‘Woy’, indeed. Roy Hodgson, known affectionately as Woy, has been a revelation since taking over management of the club and to get them clear of relegation so early in the season meant they could really knuckle down and concentrate on the Cups resulting in an FA Cup semi final and, of course, so close to a club first: a European final.
Nothing symbolizes the Bodog values of hard work, team spirit and, most importantly, a proper rush, more than Fulham’s incredible season. They’ve de-throned the Europa champions, toppled the German Champions and put Italian powerhouse Juventus to the sword.
Calvin Ayre, Bodog’s founder was there as Fulham took their first steps against Wolfsburg in the quarter-final, and members of the Bodog family have been at every stage of Fulham’s run, home and away, to get behind the boys. We view our relationship with Fulham as a genuine partnership and draw comparisons between their exploits in Europe and Bodog Europe’s ambitions in the same territory.
Like Fulham, we show respect but fear no-one and, while having fun along the way, Bodog Europe is already making serious in-roads into the UK & Europe.
Go on the lilly-whites! Get to the final and on Thursday night I want to hear nothing else but everybody in the UK shouting: “Woy, Woy, Woy” and “Bobby For England.”
