Tombola has become the latest in a long line of gambling companies to sponsor a Premier League football club after agreeing to appear on the home and away shirts of Sunderland for the next two seasons. Tombola, which is based in the town, should have copied BetClic’s Juventus deal and just sponsored the home shirts, given that the Black Cats go missing away from home. The local firm has hedged its bets by waiting until relegation was almost certainly avoided before committing but wouldn’t it be amusing if the Mackems did manage to go down, given that they are 11 points clear of Burnley and Hull with four games to go, and have still to face both of those relegation-threatened sides.
