A calendar quirk that saw both the Super Bowl and Chinese New Year occur in the month of February is getting much of the credit for a 14% increase in Nevada casino winnings, the largest monthly increase since December 2006 and the first double-digit increase since July 2007. The numbers were even better on the Strip, up by 33% over the same month last year, making it the largest increase there since November 1999. One can imagine that Nevada state officials are seriously considering moving March Madness, the World Series and possibly Christmas and Thanksgiving to the month of February, too. Read more.
