If you think this recession is hitting you hard then be grateful you don’t live in Greece, which is some €300 billion in debt. So to offset the deepening crisis the state-owned OPAP has decided to introduce live sports betting some time this year. “We intend to introduce the new game within 2010,” said OPAP’s Chief Executive Officer Ioannis Spanoudakis. He then said the firm would decide soon whether to launch live-betting on its fixed-odds sports game Stihima before the Soccer World Cup in June and perhaps even discuss regulating online betting, once they’d all had lunch and a leisurely stroll on the beach.
