US horse racing bets down $1B for 2nd consecutive year

JockeyThe Jockey Club’s 2010 Online Fact Book has been released, and the big news from the little men is that US horse racing is running on some pretty spindly legs. Betting turnover on thoroughbred racing fell 9.5% in 2009, resulting in a 5.9% fall in gross purses (and they’re not talking about handbags carried by The Real Housewives of Kentucky). Read more.
