Global Gaming Expo 2011 – G2E

Just last week the gaming world gathered in the world-renowned gambling haven of Las Vegas for the G2E Global Gaming Expo, or in more certain terms another industry party where there happened to be a gaming exhibition, congress, and gathering at the same time. Although, the issues discussed at the tenth edition of this expo were extremely important in their own right.
Alongside the usual showgirls, politicians, comedians, and CEO’s that you come to expect at industry show like this was a giant robot and thankfully we had a team on hand to capture everything that went on over the two days the exhibition took place.

One of the highlights of the first day, apart from the evening’s GPWA party at the Stratosphere, was the introduction of Buzz Sports new live in-play product, Zone Play.

Other than this, we were treated to a keynote from Senator Ray Lesniak on the S490 Bill and what it will means for the future of iGaming in North America.

If delegates were nursing a hangover on day two then they weren’t showing it as the expo was again bursting at the seams with many a dignitary from the gaming industry. Maybe it was the abundance of Playboy playmates or the grouping of Deal or No Deal girls. Whatever it was they came and they saw. I don’t know about conquering, but Harrah’s President, CEO, and Chair Gary Loveman did a passing impression of doing just that.

As far as keynotes go this was seamless, Loveman speaking in front of a full house on issues from the misinformation age the industry is experiencing or the “Stockholm syndrome” that he dubbed it. Harrah’s President went on to talk about growth being limited by politicians, and some believe that his speech went a long way to pitching for iGaming in the USA.

This year saw the last time that the conference would take place at the Las Vegas Convention Centre though. Next year the road show will move on to the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, also in Las Vegas, and will also be scheduled earlier on in the year in October as opposed to the late November date is currently holds.

No one should be fearful of any of this news though. CalvinAyre.com will still be sending a crew over to the event, as we did this year, and covering all the parties and goings on in the style that we know best.
