888Poker launch an Olympic themed micro-series: The Summer ChampionChips Series. 888Poker Ambassador Dominik Nitsche heads a trio of top stars appearing on the final tables of the 888Poker Sunday majors.

888Poker is the second online poker room to launch an Olympic-style tournament series after Unibet announced their Road to Rio Challenge at the back end of last week.

The 888Poker Summer ChampionChips Series begins on Sun 14 Aug and ends the same time as the Rio Olympics on Sun 21 Aug. 888Poker has stumped up $150,000 in guarantees spread over 18 events each containing an Olympic theme.

There is a $55 buy-in Weightlifting High Roller Tuesday, 16 Aug with a $30,000 Guarantee and a $30 buy-in Marathon Main Event on Sunday, 21 Aug carrying a $50,000 Guarantee.

Dominik Nitsche Comes Third in The Sunday Challenge; TomYamKai Wins The Whale; Kozlov and Fierro Final Table the Mega Deep.

888Poker Ambassador, Dominik Nitsche, had a decent showing in the 888Poker Sunday Challenge this weekend. The $80,000 Guaranteed event saw Nitsche finishing third for $9,142. An Estonian player by the name of CaiFuXi took the $14,274 first prize. In May, Nitsche took down the $150,000 Guaranteed Super XL Mini Main Event for $36,541.

This weekend also saw the return of the $120,000 Guaranteed Whale. It’s a $600 buy-in making it one of the biggest online events of the weekend, and Finland’s ‘TomYamKai’ took down the $32,236 first prize. The Fin is a big winner on 888Poker with a previous victory in the $70,000 Whale, a $100,000 Mega Deep score, and a $85,000 Volcano score on his resume.

And finally, ‘SickManJFS’ from Uruguay took down the $100,000 Guaranteed Mega Deep event for $25,000. Last month, he finished third in this event for $11,750 for a redemption of sorts. The Australian Martin ‘MakeToney’ Kozlov finished third for $13,800. Kozlov was coming off the back of an incredible WSOP that saw him cash seven times, make two final tables, and win his first bracelet. Kozlov has won more than $2.8m playing online, and over $170,000 of that has been picked up on the 888Poker tables. The legend that is Nicolas ‘PKaiser’ Fierro also made the final table finishing in seventh place. The Chilean has earned more than $9m playing online MTTs with over $270,000 coming from the 888Poker online poker room.
