Tropical cyclones alone in 2015 has damaged over $220m properties and livelihood, and left thousands of families with inadequate shelters, and in some cases, with no homes.

In December 2015, typhoon Nona wreaked havoc in the province of Samar, where it crashed with maximum sustained winds of 250kph. The Chitongco village, found in the municipality of Mondragon in Northern Samar located in Central Philippines, was among the areas hit by the typhoon, which damaged over 800 houses within three hours.

This month, the Calvin Ayre Foundation team paid a visit to this village and donated construction materials to be used by over 100 families who still haven’t repaired their homes.

The foundation distributed over 2,000 planks of wood and posts, 630 kilos of construction nails and over a thousand chords to help rehabilitate the village.

“We are sending our heartfelt gratitude to the team of the Calvin Ayre Foundation who wholeheartedly sent help to our family. Thank you very much,” said the family of Hernandez, residents of Chitongco Village.

The Calvin Ayre Foundation believes in the importance of a strong and decent home for the families especially, the children.

In March, the team also visited the same town bringing with them 2,000 bags of groceries, 6,000 liters of drinking water, and 10,000 kilos of rice.
