Partypoker, World Poker Tour and DT38 to Host Charity Event in Aid of Testicular Cancer Awareness

The World Poker Tour plans to kick off their partypoker sponsored WPT National London festival with a specially organized charity event to raise funds for the DT38 charity, set up in honor of the former West Ham footballer Dylan Tombides.

Partypoker, World Poker Tour and DT38 to Host Charity Event in Aid of Testicular Cancer AwarenessWest Ham footballer, Dylan Tombides, had the world at his feet, when at the age of 20 he died of testicular cancer. It was a tragedy no parent should have to endure.

The Dylan Tombides DT38 Charitable Foundation was created in his honor. It’s hoped that the lessons his parents learned throughout their harrowing ordeal, can be used to prevent other tragic deaths of this nature. His parents believe had they known more about this disease in the beginning things could have been managed very differently.

On Wed, Jul 29, partypoker and the World Poker Tour (WPT) will be hosting a special £100 buy-in event, with 38% of the prize pool being donated to DT38. The number 38 is synonymous because it was Tombides shirt number, a number that West Ham have since retired – an honor that has only ever been bestowed to the England World Cup captain Bobby Moore.

“Having the DT38 Tournament take place during the WPT festival at Aspers Casino Stratford offers us the opportunity to increase awareness about men’s health, in particular our young men, and the need for self-awareness and early detection”, commented Tracy Tombides, Dylan’s Mother and founder of DT38. “The evening also provides an opportunity for people to play poker, mix with footballers, and grab some great prizes whilst also fundraising to provide support, awareness and education.”

The charity event will be followed by the partypoker WPT National Main Event. The tournament is a £600 Accumulator style buy-in that allows players the opportunity to buy-in up to three times (£200 each), and then carry forward the accumulated chips into Day 2. Both events will be held in Aspers Casino, Stratford City and partypoker pro Tony Dunst will be flying across the ocean to take part in the event.

“I played the event at Aspers Casino for the first time in February, and I loved it so much that I wanted to make sure I was here again for the last leg of 2015!” commented Dunst.

Online satellite qualifiers are currently available online at partypoker, please try your very best to come to Stratford and support a worthy cause.
