Sometimes a free tool comes along that is so useful, you wonder why they gave it away for nothing!
http://beamusup.com/ is a really simple tool that does a diagnostic analysis of a site and then flags up errors for you to fix. One of the other benefits is that the data is exportable and therefore its easy to set up task lists for people to run through and sort out.
I’ve done a a crawl of test.com just to show you some of the reports:
One of the most useful things about this (free) tool is you can export into excel or Google docs and process it from there.
A good example of how we have used this tool is for a general site cleanup. So we ran Beam us up and ended up with a spreadsheet which we imported into Google docs. We then shared the doc with the client and explained what was wrong on the site and what we needed to do to fix it.
From there, the SEO exec started working their way through the document and because it was on Google docs the client could check in and see what ideas we had for alternative title tags and so on. This way, the process was collaborative and easy to understand for everyone working on the project.
