Optimal Payments names Thomas Auriemma as US advisor

Optimal-PaymentsOptimal Payments entry to the US market as a payment processor in New Jersey called for the company to fortify its ranks with somebody who knows the American gaming market like the back of his hand. The parent company of Neteller, which received approval from New Jersey’s Division of Gaming Enforcement to begin offering payment technology to online gambling sites that will be run by the state’s Atlantic City casinos, did just that, appointing Thomas Auriemma as a strategic advisor to help guide the company’s business in the US.

The choice of Auriemma is a logical fit for Optimal Payments, which will now rely on the man’s 28 years of experience in casino regulatory role to help acclimate it with the US gambling market. As part of his role as a Yoda-like figure or the payment processor, Auriemma is expected to provide strategic and regulatory advice on current and future U.S. state regulation in regards to payment services for the online gaming industry.

Not so much of a difficult task for somebody who is considered as one of only a few people who has served in both casino regulatory agencies in the Garden State. The man knows his way around New Jersey’s complicated casino industry like few people do after serving as the director of the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) from 2002-2007 and as deputy director of the New Jersey Casino Control Commission’s Legal Division.

Auriemma’s resume reads like a long list of high-profile stops across the broad spectrum of the gambling industry in the US. On top of his posts in Jersey, he is also a member of the Compliance Committee of Penn National Gaming, and among his previous stops included serving as the chair of the International Association of Gaming Regulators and as a member of the International Association of Gaming Advisors and the International Masters of Gaming Law.

Hard to say if Optimal Payments couldn’t have made a better choice with Auriemma because they probably couldn’t. Now that he’s in the mix, Optimal will rely on his expertise and experience in the US gaming industry to help entrench the company and turn it into one of the best payment providers in the burgeoning online gaming industry in the US.
