SBC recruits Betting Business editor to oversee next step in development

sbc-recruits-betting-business-editorLondon – 29 January 2014 – Sports Betting Community (SBC), one of the world’s largest networks of gambling professionals, has appointed Betting Business interactive editor Andrew McCarron in the new role of Managing Director. The move sees SBC founder Rasmus Sojmark become Executive Chairman with Ted Menmuir confirmed in the position of Content Director.

The announcement coincides with the relaunch of the organisation’s news website SBCNews.co.uk and the launch of the new Betting on Football Conference being held on 8 May at Stamford Bridge.

The changes signal the start of SBC’s plans to upscale its news, events and consultancy business for the betting sector. SBC’s success has been built on its immensely popular SBC Socials, where members of SBC’s 5,000-strong community get together and network in a social environment. There are three more SBC socials planned in the coming months; London Baby (formerly ICE ICE Baby) – the large scale party held during ICE Totally Gaming week in February, the third SBC Asia Social in Manila on 28 February and the Betting on Football Awards on 8 May in Fulham.

Rasmus Sojmark, who is also CEO of social betting firm Oddslife, commented: “I’ve had plans to expand the editorial and services capabilities of SBC for a while now and I believe Andy is the perfect person to realise that aim. His 15 years’ experience in the industry will be a valuable asset to what we hope to achieve at SBC.”

Andrew McCarron added: “I’ve always had a passion for the betting sector since working in a betting shop in my youth, so joining SBC feels like a natural progression. We’re aiming to take SBC to the next level and become a vital tool for the betting and gaming industry.”

McCarron has been writing about the gaming industry since 1998, initially writing for coin-op trade titles Coinslot International and Euroslot Worldwide, as well as Casino International, Park World and International Casino Review. He became the founding editor of betting industry trade magazine Betting Business in 2004 and oversaw its change to Betting Business interactive in 2010. He will be making his first appearance with SBC at the ICE Totally Gaming show at ExCeL on 4-6 February on stand ND6-B.
