World Poker Tour Caribbean: Ebony Kenney Leads Going Into Day 2

World Poker Tour (WPT) Caribbean has moved into Day 2, and it’s the Season X WPT Ones to Watch Ebony Kenney who has the chip lead with 174,000

Ebony Kenney has one of the toughest jobs in the world as she tries to balance life as a professional poker player with raising two children; but for the moment at least, life is a breeze as she sits on top of a pile of talented poker players in St. Maarten.

Ebony Kenney

Kenney fired an unsuccessful bullet in Day 1A and after seeing her aces cracked decided to take a few hours off and re-enter on Day 1B. It was an inspired decision as her excellent all round performance saw her take the overall chip lead into Day 2 with 174,000 chips.

The Miami Beach model, and pro poker player, was not the only person firing multiple barrels. The in-form David Peters was taking his second shot, as were WPT Champions Club members Jonathan Roy and Will Failla.

Failla followed Kenney into the Day 2 seat draw finishing the day with 22,500 chips but Peters and Roy will be spreading their pasty white bodies underneath the sun until their flight takes them on to Montreal in a couple of days, where Roy will be looking to defend his title.

Peters was eliminated as early as the third level of action when he got it in on [Ah] [7h] [4d] [4c] holding ace-king, which was way behind the [Qh] [4h] of Ferenc Riech. The river changed nothing and Peters was out.

Roy followed Peters to the beach when he was eliminated in a three way all-in on [4h] [4d] [3d] holding pocket jacks. Drega Vozel taking two scalps holding pocket treys for the flopped boat and the third person in the hand held two ladies.

The engravers haven’t even had time to etch the name of Jared Jaffee into the WPT Champions Club trophy, but the New Yorker had flown in direct from his victory in Jacksonville to make sure they got the job done. Unfortunately, for Jaffee he didn’t make it through the day and will also have to make do with the sun, sea and who knows…perhaps he’ll get lucky to finish off that sentence.

116 players entered Day 1B and 64 squeezed through. That means the total field size was 191 players and Kenney will lead the final 107 when the Day 2 action commences at 16:00 (local time) later today.

Big stacks and notables that made it through Day 1B were Ebony Kenney (174,000), Vie Vo (135,000), Stephen Serfato (133,000), Ben Warrington (111,600), Byron Kaverman (44,600), Tony Dunst (43,000), Fabian Quoss (32,800), Tobias Reinkemeier (25,800), Bobby Oboodi (24,500), Will Failla (22,500) & Igor Kurganov (22,000).

Joining Jaffee, Roy and Peters on the sidelines were Chance Kornuth and the WPTAlpha8 superman Philipp Gruissem.
