WCOOP Win For Dave Shallow; Rhys Jones Dominates MiniFTOPS and DTD Unveil the Devilfish Card Room

wcoop-win-for-dave-shallowWCOOP continues to be a happy hunting ground for British players as Dave Shallow claims his second bracelet; Rhys Jones wins his second MiniFTOPS jersey in a week, and Dusk till Dawn announce the new Devilfish Room on its online site.

Earlier this week Toby ‘810ofclubs’ Lewis rose to the top of both the Global Poker Index (GPI) UK live tournament rankings, and the PocketFives UK online tournament rankings, whilst capturing his first World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) title, winning the $215 No Limit Hold’em (NLHE) Rebuy, Turbo event for $189,379.23.

Another British player who can boast impressive online and live results is the incredible talent of Dave Shallow. The former law school drop out became a World Poker Tour (WPT) champion after destroying the field in Dublin during one of the most one sided WPT events I have witnessed back in Season X; and in 2010 he pocketed $605,655 after victory in a $10,000 WCOOP event.

Top poker players are just like dragons – always looking to add to their plunder – and the man known as ‘Dubai’ is no different. This week he became one of only 14 players in the world to win two WCOOP titles after securing victory in Event #10: $215 Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO) Knockout. The event attracted 1,490 players and Shallow, playing under the screen name CrabMaki, outlasted the lot to take the $40,369.72 first prize.

Rhys Jones Wins Two MiniFTOPS Events in a Week

Shallow is not the only British player to win two top titles this week as Rhys Jones has won two titles in the MiniFTOPS XXII series currently running on Full Tilt Poker (FTP).

Jones’s first victory came in Event #4 $109 No-Limit Hold’em (NLHE) Re-Entry tournament. The NOT SO Mini event attracted 2,888 players and Jones outlasted the lot to take home the jersey and $50,008.54 in prize money.

The second jersey came in Event #12 $22 Irish No Limit when he overcame a field of 1,247 players to win the top prize. It was the first event of the series not to hit it’s guarantee. A $5,060 overlay adding some value for the participating players.

CalvinAyre Has a MiniFTOPS Jersey

CalvinAyre has it’s own MiniFTOPS jersey after your truly managed to break away from the writing grind to capture Event #9 $22 Pot Limit Omaha (PLO) Hi Five-Card, Six Handed event.

I managed to wiggle and luck box my way through a field of 1,228 players to capture the first prize of $5,022.22 and my first silver jersey.

DTD Unveil the Devilfish Poker Room

Not since Devilfish Poker was sold back in Nov 2010 have we seen those special rings emblazoned on the front of an online poker site; but all that is about to change as the Dusk Till Dawn Online Poker Room has unveiled a new Devilfish Poker Room on its skin.

The Devilfish has been an ambassador for DTD for quite some time, and had his Hummer covered in DTD and ISPT logos during the run up to €1 Million Guaranteed Wembley event earlier this year – an event the Devilfish described as having the best value in the world of poker EVER.

The new room will be full of tournaments hand-picked by the Devilfish, a special leader board and also opportunities to play against the great man himself. That’s if he can pull himself away from the shitty nappies and baby bottles long enough to fit a game in.
