iPoker jumps in on the fast-fold poker bandwagon with introduction of Speed Hold’em

iPoker Speed HoldemThe growing popularity of the fast-fold poker genre has found its way into iPoker, who announced that they will test its waters beginning in July.

Speed Hold’em is what they’re calling it, and according to PokerFuse.com, iPoker is looking into taking a slice off of a genre that’s becoming more and more popular for a lot of poker players.

For the meantime, iPoker will be limiting Speed Hold’em on No Limit Hold’em and Pot Limit Hold’em games with limits set at 10c/20c. Additionally, players will not have to worry about any waiting lists and can join the same game pool up to 10 times.

iPoker has been in the news quite a lot lately. Last month, Gala Coral’s online poker operation Gala Poker – you might also know them as Coral Poker – made the switch to the iPoker network, leaving behind the floundering Ongame Network for greener pastures.

The introduction of Speed Hold’em is the latest in a long line of developments for the network. They become the latest online poker outfit to adapt Full Tilt’s revolutionary Rush Poker, which it developed back in 2010. Other online poker sites have taken similar steps. Pokerstars recently took the training wheels off of Zoom Poker; StanJames has Blaze Poker; Relax Gaming also has Fast Poker, which you can find in a number of online poker sites like Unibet and iGame. Heck, even PartyPoker is jumping in on the trend, although its version is still in the development stages.

The soft launch of iPoker’s Speed Hold’em is proof that the appeal of fast-fold poker has grown since it was first offered a couple of years ago. According to the iPoker press release, players from the iPoker Network will find the Speed Hold’em tables alongside regular games. It will be marked with a green lightning icon and will be displayed “in all current views and table searches, including Favorites and Quick Seats.”

Ever since it was introduced in 2010 by Full Tilt, fast-fold poker has had its share of critics and supporters. But now that the genre has gained some traction, it appears that a lot of online poker companies are going along with the trend.

Can’t say we’re surprised by this.
