We know iGaming is even better on the move, so here’s a round-up of today’s mobile gaming technology news.
Since its 10 incher was set free Down Under, online reports reveal that Samsung is publicly celebrating its courtroom victory – turning a negative into a positive for sales – at Apple‘s expense.
Samsung have proved in the past there’s no point being subtle about its hatred for Apple, and so it’s done it again, this time launching an ad campaign in Australia for the Galaxy Tab 10.1, calling it “the tablet Apple tried to stop: It’s time to Tab”.
In a report by the Sun-Herald this week – a paper in which the advert was in – Samsung Australia’s vice president of telecommunications, Tyler McGee, wouldn’t let on how much the injunction by Apple had set the company back revenue wise. He was however, more than willing to praise the giant Californian iPad manufacturer for inadvertently putting the Galaxy Tab in the spotlight. Meow.
“At the end of the day the media awareness certainly made the Galaxy Tab 10.1 a household name compared to probably what it would’ve been based on the investment that we would’ve put into it from a marketing perspective,” McGee said, while smugly grinning from cheek to cheek, we expect.
With the rise of tablets and smartphones being used for iGaming, news from Intel might mean the idea of gaming online from a laptop is scrapped all together. TV experts LG has announced a sweet deal which will see Intel and its new WiDi - that’s “wireless display” – technology debuting in televisions by 2012. What this means is people can stream their media content from tablets and phones in High Definition. Could this see iGamers missing out the middle man of laptops - controlling games from tablets and watching it on widescreen TVs?
Intel also stated that its WiDi technology won’t only be confined to LG TVs. In a press release the company confirmed that the alliance will see WiDi integrated into its key products: “”Intel is planning to expand Intel WiDi technology to various devices to provide con-sumers the seamless, smarter usage experience,” said Country Manager of Intel Korea, Hee-Sung Lee.
It’s the tenth anniversary of the legendary and controversial game Grand Theft Auto III – one of the most thrilling and debauched games that ever arrived to a gaming console. To celebrate, RockStar Games – who recently announced GTA 5 - has released a version for most mobile gaming platforms and from today, is now available in the Android and Apple iOS App stores. So, you’ll be please to know if you’re a Droid or Granny Smith tabber or smartyphone user that for $4.99 you can download and start your murder rampage from here onwards. What you waiting for? Go kill some innocent civilians!
