Bodog isn’t the only one to have experienced the help of hackers that volunteer to highlight online security flaws. Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg had his personal profile hacked on Tuesday which saw the swift swipe of his private photos.
According to the Star, it happened after a post on a BodyBuilding.com forum provided step-by-step instructions on how to perform such a mischievous deed.
Zuckerberg’s hacked pictures include shots of him holding a chicken upside down (dead or alive, we’re not too sure) and him swanning about in his vast, expensive-looking kitchen. However, within hours of the hack, engineers at Facebook plugged the security loophole, blaming the glitch on a software upgrade.
After Facebook was recently forced to reach a deal with the Federal Trade Commission with Zuckerberg owning up to “high profile mistakes” in privacy issues – this is yet another incident in a long list that highlights the fragility of security in a global social network. Will Facebook ever truly overcome its downright rubbish security? With 800million users, it’s going to be pretty tough to get it tighter than a hamster’s backside.
BlackBerry smartphone makers RIM have announced the name of their anticipated new OS for their next-gen mobile platform today.
BlackBerryDev revealed the news via Twitter: “#BBDevCon Asia Keynote: BlackBerry 10 is the official name of the next generation platform that will power future BlackBerry smartphones!^BZ,”.
BlackBerry 10 was first unveiled in October as BBX. The name change comes after RIM lost a legal battle for the BBX name to BASIS International, a company that has been using it for its software products.
In a report by Mashable, BlackBerry 10 is understood to be a “unified operating system for BlackBerry smartphones, tablets and other devices” and will combine the features of BlackBerry OS and QNX, the operating system RIM had purchased in 2010, to make the best of both worlds.
But with dwindling sales and the recent service blackout ensuring consumer trust has been well and truly tainted, is a world with BlackBerry in it now over? Or will you be buying into the new OS?
