What technological concoctions are brewing in the sacred labs of tech giant rivals Apple and Google that will see their next move in the thermonuclear war?
Well, for Apple, it seems a few tell tale signs from Amazon could mean the arrival of the new Apple TV very soon. Amazon.com has dropped the price of the current model by $10, but not only that; it’s started referring to it as the “2010 version”, reports 9to5mac.
Want much more of a hint than that?
Amazon lists the most recent versions of other Apple products as the newest versions, so does this listing let on more than the seller intended?
In his biography, Steve Jobs claimed to have come up with a new way of controlling the TV, but Apple’s standalone set isn’t expected until 2013 – so best bet we won’t see any sign of it for an age. Jobs claimed the set would “have the simplest user interface you could imagine,” so Siri would be a good bet.
What would you like to see from an updated Apple TV? A bigger hard drive? More content? Integrated iPhone dock? The possibilities are endless…
Apple isn’t the only one with tricks up its sleeve. Arch rival Google has something musical coming our way, and it’s gonna be big. How do we know? Well, Google is holding an official event tomorrow to announce its new Google Music venture anyway, but of course, that doesn’t stop information from leaking to the public first. The major information leak details that Google Music will apparently resemble iTunes, letting users purchase music. Judging by Steve Jobs hatred towards Google, Apple definitely won’t be over the moon about that! Talk about treading on toes.
Speaking of toe treading, in addition to selling music, Google’s store is said to let users share one or two free listens of the songs with their friends on Facebook‘s foe, Google+. Songs are said to cost between $0.99 and $1.29 and Google may offer discounts. But is Google’s MP3 market a little late? iTunes and Amazon established themselves in this department years ago, but it’s probably too early to tell if it will go down a treat or not.
What would make you choose to buy tunes from Google instead of its competitors?
