The iPhone 4S might be the so-called smartphone for mobile gaming, but recent reports have shown that those who could be bothered to queue up for days on end to get one, have noticed a rapid drain of battery life with daily use.
Many users have complained that even though the 4S battery has a slightly higher capacity than the iPhone 4 – it’s lasted about as long as Kim Kardashian’s marriage – and they haven’t been able to use its nifty new features before their phones are gasping for power. Some reports have stated users’ iPhone batteries reduce by 10% an hour before conking out, with Siri begging to be given a right good charge.
Maybe it’s just the novelty of buying a new phone with lots of new features, such as the personal slave, excuse me, assistant – Siri – and other new features like the BBM rival – iMessage – which are causing people to not want to leave their new shiny little gadgets alone? In Apple’s defence, the 4S does have a dual-core processor and many software action and location-aware features that punch your battery right where it hurts every time they’re used. Nevertheless, what’s the point of forking out extra mounds of moolah if Apple can’t deliver the extra features the new 4S has to offer?
Today, Apple finally admitted and acknowledged the problem and said that their prized operating system – the iOS5 – is to blame. Oh, you naughty little iOS5. So what you gonna do about it then, Apple?
Well, in a statement it said: “A small number of customers have reported lower than expected battery life on iOS 5 devices. We have found a few bugs that are affecting battery life and we will release a software update to address those in a few weeks.”
Judging by the popularity of the 4S, we doubt it’s hardly a “small number” customers that are complaining, you cheeky gadget giant, you. But let’s hope it hurries this along so we can enjoy longer bouts of gaming on the go!
