tron-light-cycleLast week, we featured a story about an electric powered Back to the Future DeLorean. Lo and behold for the geeks out there, now there’s a real life Tron Light Cycle. The Light Cycle, which first appeared in the groundbreaking 1982 film, Tron, was vehicle that resembled a motorcycle used for competition between humanoid computer programs.

In the sequel, Tron Legacy, the Light Cycle was redesigned to look more like an actual motorcycle. The Tron Light Cycle isn’t just in movies because a full scale and working model of the motorcycle has been riding around the streets of Florida and New Jersey.

Built by Parker Brothers Choppers, the Tron-inspired motorbikes glow and zip around like the actual bikes from the film. An all-electric drive system and lithium ion battery powers these custom motorcycles. That’s some space age shit right there.

Its top speed is in excess of 100mph, and its range is 100 miles on a single ranger, with a mere 35-minute recharge time. Alright, so maybe it’s not as fast as the Light Cycle in the movie nor does it leave a solid jetwall, but still this thing’s pretty fuckin awesome even if you’re not a fan of the movie.

I’m not that expert on motorcycles but it does seem a bit hard to ride. Well, it’s probably a small price to pay for the looks you’ll be getting while riding this beauty –especially at night.

Oh and in case you’re wondering how much this baby will set you back, they sell to the tune of $55,000. Again, it’s a small price to pay. If you’re not convinced, check out the video below.
