Twitter and iPadTwitter is the latest firm to be thanking their lucky stars that the sacred fruit they chose was the one with pips in the middle. Since iOS5 was launched, Twitter has been on a roll. It’s not just a roly-poly down a hill either. This is a carefully choreographed role that would win an Olympic medal were it not CEO Dick Costolo performing. In tech terms, it translates to signups to Twitter via iOS tripling since the iOS5 and it’s all down to Apple’s fifth generation super-fruit that even talks back to you. Can you imagine if apples had feelings and could talk? Granny Smith would definitely be a GILF!

Twitter itself mirrored gains seen on Apple’s new iOS. The CEO added there are 100 million monthly active users and that 50% of them log-on to the social network showing it’s a lot more than just a place to find whom Ryan Giggs’ shaggin’.

Apple’s latest OS has been installed on 31% of all Apple devices. Since it started on the pills and mobiles on October 12, almost a third of all devices have seen the iOS5 activated and this cross-device compatibility could make Apple even more imperious. Arguably, the most enticing feature is that it includes iMessage – Apple’s version of BlackBerry Messenger AKA the RIM stinger. The new upgrade is available to owners of both iPads, the 3GS and 4G iPod touches and iPhone 3G’s and 4’s.

This will interest those in the mobile gaming industry, as it will mean developing apps specifically for the new OS. That is if you even bother with the native apps. A new OS is unlikely to mean a change in turnaround time for the apps and it might mean the side of the web-based app is further strengthened.
