The-Tablet-Battle-Apple-iPad-2-vs-Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-10-1-1The ongoing patent bitch-fight between gadget rivals Apple and Samsung saw another blow for Samsung today, with Apple successfully barring sales of its new tablet computer in yet another country. This time, Australia.

Though a similar ban across Europe has now been raised, the Australian Court approved the injunction. The injunction, which was filed by Apple in August, prevents Samsung from selling its iPad equivalent – the Galaxy Tab 10.1 – on Ozzy territory until the lawsuit has concluded.

In Samsung’s defence, it did try and prove that the Australian version of its tab would differ from that sold in the U.S., but the Apple fanboy judge sided with Granny Smith, and now the case will go to trial. Yikes.

The two industry giants have been litigating in a patent battle across the world since April due to claims by Apple that Samsung violated 10 of its sacred patents. But Apple isn’t the only one rotten to the core. Samsung hasn’t been playing any nicer, counter-suing Apple in several countries, including South Korea, France and Italy. Nonetheless, they haven’t yet achieved a delay in Apple products sales…and with millions of Apple devotees out there, they probably never will.

In a report by Mashable, a Samsung spokesperson said: “Samsung will continue its legal proceeding against Apple’s claim in order to ensure our innovative products remain available to consumers.”

The pathetic squabble and “copy cat” or “I was there first” mentality means that Australian customers will not be able to (legally) buy the Galaxy Tab 10.1. There is still a chance for Samsung to win the case however, and if that was to happen, then not only Apple would reign supreme in the global garden of gadgetry.

It’s often said that Apple is the best of its kind, but will it soon be the only of its kind? Is it only a matter of time before the forbidden fruit sits on and juices the life out of every other tech manufacturer who attempts to get in their way? Scared of a bit of competition are we Apple? Show us your pips!

It may be a wait before we see Apple’s shiny pips, but until then, it will make sure its apps are being rammed down our necks, with the news that Apple has just released six new applications along with its updated mobile operating system the iOS 5.

This is the company’s most hard-hitting software rollout to date, releasing apps such as Newsstand, Reminders, Find My Friends, Cards, iTunes Movie Trailers and AirPort Utility. Apple is eager to enlighten us that its delicious applications are either included with an update to iOS 5 or now available on the App Store.
