sean averyIf you know anything about Sean Avery the hockey player, you’ll know he’s the type of guy that will say and do anything to anyone at anytime, apparently, that includes battering a police officer.

There’s no nice way to put it, Avery is what you call a bad guy. If before, he was only trying to portray that image, now he’s living it.

Reports in both the LA Times and the New York Times have indicated that Sean Avery has been arrested for the pushing a police officer while at his home in Los Angeles. According to the LA Times report, police officers had gone to Avery’s residence on a noise complaint, but Avery refused to turn down his music and then proceeded to push one of the officers. Several more officers arrived on the scene and Avery was taken into police custody.

To be real, who really likes being told to turn down their music when they’re trying to party? I want to back Avery up on this, but his past record is so littered with so many asshole moves, it’s hard to stick your neck out for the guy.

Sean Avery is the same guy who made public inappropriate comments about his former girlfriend just because a rival NHL player was dating her. I won’t repeat what he said, it’s funny, but highly inappropriate.

Avery is also known as the goon who stood waiving his stick like an idiot in front of Martin Brodeur in the 2008 NHL Playoffs. The NHL has since amended the rules to prevent such “Avery” like displays of sportsmanship from ever happening again.

He’s made comments about French players and allegedly called Georges Laraque a monkey and he’s known for sucker punching guys. Nobody should be known for sucker punching.

It will be interesting to see if the Rangers take any disciplinary action on Avery over this incident.
