Everyone loves to gamble and carrying on, especially Hollywood actors with money to burn.
Remember how Spider Man star Tobey Maguire was making a killing in poker winnings? Remember how the 35-year-old is being sued after an FBI investigation discovered that Brad Ruderman, the CEO of Ruderman Capital Partners, lost around $25 million worth of investors money in their “little underground” poker games?
Well turns out he’s not the only big named celebrity that was in on the games. According to US magazine, Ben Affleck racked up almost a half a million dollar debt in the games. It has been reported that Affleck owed Hollywood juggernaut Ron Meyer $400,000 for months according to Star magazine.
Interestingly enough, Meyer, who owns Universal Studios, daughter is married to Tobey Maguire, so it’s all one big happy gambling family.
Every poker shark in the world right now would give their right thumb to get in on a couple of those weekly games with that type of cash flow being thrown around by amateurs.
It seems in Hollywood, the best poker is the underground high stakes poker, and with Tobey Maguire being Ron Meyer’s arguable one of most powerful men in Hollywood’s son in law, maybe the other actors were letting him win, just to make sure their careers stay afloat.
Couldn’t you picture Tobey up on the table in the Spider-man crouch yelling:
“Fold or I’ll tell my Father in Law!”
Heaven knows Affleck wasn’t taking any chances, probably lost to Meyer on purpose.
