Pentasia Champions League

Friday, 10th June 2011 – Champions of the 4th edition of the Pentasia Champions League were awarded their respective trophies on a magnificent night at St. Catherine’s School Sports Ground on Friday 29th May.

Since its inception in 2007 the league has gone from strength to strength bringing together the hottest talent in Malta’s iGaming and IT industries. The tournament now comprises 36 teams battling it out across two divisions and the Pentasia Cup, all competing for the highest accolades the industry has to offer. With more teams and better players this has been to most fiercely contested season in the league’s illustrious history.

Betsafe overcame Gambling Affiliation by a single point to be crowned champions of the closely contested Division A. Retribution for the runners-up, however, was to be found in cup glory after they beat Power Poker in the final match of the famed Pentasia Cup.

Casino and Poker offering NOIQ FC dominated Division B, seeing off nearest rivals Phoenix by a nine point margin.

The league has continued to grow in size since its inception due to its ability to bring together companies from the iGaming and IT industries and promote a healthy level of competition amongst colleagues, peers and rivals. Such has been its success that the tournament has now been emulated by iGaming Business in the UK and rumour has begun of an inter-country Champions Cup taking place at ICE next year to determine the best of the best.

“We are extremely satisfied with the turnout and the interest shown by all the teams that took part. Thirty-six teams played an intensive season between October and May, rain or shine, making it a very exciting tournament.” Pentasia Group Managing Director Christopher Vella commented. “Special thanks go to committee members Dione Bugeja, Paul Midolo and Matthew Scicluna for their outstanding efforts to make this League so successful. We look forward to an even better and bigger edition next October.”
