Animal themed looks are in again

lobster lipsCurrent fashion trends are showing that more women are wearing animal themed make-up and animal prints. I had no idea that the 80’s were back. The animal theme fashion trend has gone far beyond the skin-tight leopard print spandex of the 80’s, it now includes tattoos, hairstyles and make-up. Yes men, animal themed make-up is in.

While I’m still on the fence about this, I had to wonder how other men would feel about women wearing something like animal themed lipstick. As men, does that do anything for us?

Is it a turn on if a women has tiger stripes painted across her face? What about lipstick modelled after a small crab or lobster? Sea urchin lips? Does that turn us on? I can’t call it.

What’s next? Are women going to start rocking a pair of whiskers or rabbit ears? Is that hot? Body painting is one thing, but animal print make-up and lipstick is another look in itself.

As men, we’ll adapt to anything the opposite sex is doing. If women want to walk around looking like cheetahs and lions then I guess we’ll have to find a way to be attracted to that.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s something about animal print on a woman that whispers firstly, Cougar, and then there’s something sexual about it. There’s something wild and untamed about it. But is fashion taking it too far?

Not sure how hot a woman who looks like a zebra or giraffe is, but you can’t stop fashion.

Hairstylist Chinmayee Pal describes in the DNA publication, “For a cheetah or a leopard look, over-the-top wild hair would be the perfect fit. If you have a perfect oval face and a great figure, just a plain bun can be enough. A Lady Gaga like head bow or an over-the-top pony should be ideal for a catty make-up.” She adds, “However, using a small bumpit on the top and a fish pony tail can enhance the fish look. In fact, you could use two bumps and make it resemble the fish fins.”

Fish fins? You see what I mean gentlemen? Do we ever have a say? I can’t be the only one who doesn’t want my lady looking like the Little Mermaid.

leopard eyesThat said, if fashion must take us here, then there are some animal looks that are hot. For instance, a catwoman. Every Halloween costume of a cat-woman I’ve ever seen, I’ve liked. There’s something sexy about a woman in cat gear. What that is exactly, I can’t call it. Not being a professional in the field, I’d rather not delve into my subconscious to find out.

I’m quite certain it has something to with loving a little kitty.

On the bright side, it may make it easier for men to choose what kind of women they like. Maybe you’re not a cheetah guy, maybe you’re not fish guy, maybe you’ll hook up with anything with spots or feathers?

Maybe it’s just hard for us men to understand.

We don’t make fashion decisions on what animals we want to look like, the toughest fashion
decision we might make in a day is what hat to wear.

I remember one episode in Batman Beyond (the animated series) wherein teenagers avail themselves of “genetic splicing.” In this episode, genetic splicing means injecting a gene that will enable a part of one's body to become like that of an animal. Say for example: your hands will become the hoofs of a horse, or your eyes will become those of a tiger, or you skin can become like the fur of a zebra, etc. etc.
