The main goal of the Hyperion Gaming Links Drinks is to provide a London based meeting spot for iGaming professionals to link up and enjoy a free cocktail and canapé or two. Tonight Hyperion accomplished just that at FluidBar, “an excellent lubricant for social interaction”, so the website says.
The night began with nametags for all attendees, complete with a barcode to be read by an iphone app that imports the contact information straight to the iphone owner’s LinkedIn profile. All guests agreed that the nametag was a very cool and creative touch even if they could not figure out what the hell the barcode was for.
The Fluid bar itself is tucked into a cute little Farrington/Barbican nook and one of its cooler features includes the old school video game machines that pepper the several floors of the establishment. In addition to the oversized and outdated machinery, Fluid also houses a full on soda machine full of Japanese beer, something that many of us had yet to witness in our lifetime of boozing.
To build on the Japanese theme, throughout the second half of the night thanks to Hyperion, we enjoyed passed Japanese canapés, a nice open bar tab thanks to sponsors Ukash and some trays of tequila shots thanks to I don’t know who.
While there was no outrageous behavior that seemed to be occurring at Fluid despite the free flowing tequila, guests thoroughly enjoyed the time to chat with friends, meet some new people and to likely make plans for some naughty post link drinks behavior.
